This battery extender for the IPhone is just the accessory to keep in the car, purse, suitcase, etc. Often when I am using the IPhone for emails, web-surfing, etc. the power goes quickly. I just plug in my battery extender and I am good to go for a while longer. Easy to use!!

This battery extender works as it says. I only gave it 4 stars because I have to remove my ipods from their cases/skins in order to attach the charger. This is mainly due to the minimal space provided by the charger. The battery must be pushed flat against the ipod in order to begin charging, if your case/skin does not allow this you will have to remove it or buy a dock extender. Works great with the 5th G ipod video and 1g ipod touch. I haven't tried it with the iphones yet (taking them out of the case is a bit of an inconvenience).

This was a great battery back up for my iphone. I used my iphone for an entire day, email, maps, GPS, taking photos & showing photos, playing games ect. I could use my phone all day because it was like having 1 extra battery charge with me at all times. Mine doesn't really do more than one charge and then it's pretty much dead. I picked mine up on sale for $28.99 over the holidays. If you wanna use your iphone alot or while you're traveling or on the go - you need this for sure. 1/6/2009 (PS - I don't work for apple or Kensington)

I purchased three of these, opened one, used it for about 2 weeks seemed to work on my iphone 3g. Charged the phone up in about 40 minutes.
CONS:
1) after 2 weeks, nothing at all, no charge even if i left this thing charging all night, it would not even charge or be recognized by the iphone.. weird
2) uses a usb to mini-usb to connect to it's power source then iphone connector to connect to the phone, DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO SYNC OR ANY OTHER FUNCTION OF THE DOC CONNECTOR.
net net, i returned all three.. amazon was great about it all.. and will look for one that does support doc connector pass through and last longer then 2 weeks without having issues.

I too should have read the other reviews more closely before buying this product. The one I received last week DOES work with firmware version 2.2. However, one cannot use earphones when it is plugged in. It would be good for an iPhone as an emergency recharger as one could continue to use the phone while it is recharging. I had planned to use this battery when I could not plug in my iPod Touch for an extended period of time. If I cannot listen while it is recharging it defeats the purpose for me, because by the time it is recharged I will be able to plug it back in.
