5 out of 5 stars Great Buy   January 9, 2009
V. Gatlin (Benton, Ar United States)
I like this box so much. Our first one is an RCA and it just sucked. At the time we got it all we had was little cheap rabbit ears.It wouldn't pick up a lot of our normal channels. I finally got it set up where I could find 2 of them by getting up and read adjusting the rabbit ears. Then I bought this one, wow I unhooked the RCA and hooked this one up in it's place and it got 17 channels where the RCA would only get 7. It was hooked up to the same rabbit ears and tv.. Then I bought a cheap antenna off of amazon and my husband bolted on the roof by our old satalite and hooked it up to the cables off of it, then all we had to do is plug the cable ends in the house to it. Works Great. I am going to be getting a couple more of these boxes, we just love them. We get to see more channels than we could ever pick up, and a lot of them when we did get the channel it went in and out or was real staticy. No more static nice clear pictures what more can you say.

5 out of 5 stars The gift that keeps on giving   January 7, 2009
Michael D. Rossiter (Avon,NY)
Listened to program on local PBS station about converter boxes and this is the one they said was best so I bought it as a Christmas present for a friend who already had a box[not this one] but wasn't happy with it! The Zenith DTT901 has performed much better for them! It's all metal and heavy- not plastic and cheap feeling like their old one- with a logically laid out remote control key pad! This is an all around quality product so if you're thinking about getting one definitely consider the Zenith.

2 out of 5 stars Worked nicely for two weeks....   January 6, 2009

I was very happy when I received the Zenith DTT901 Converter Box and it worked perfectly for two weeks. We had an accident on our road which shut down the electric, the box was on a power strip with the TV and DVD, they both survived. The box did not....I called Zenith and they told me that the box should have survived and that the electric was not the problem, they walked through steps to restore the menu, but nothing worked. They were very quick to say we have stickers to send you and just return and we will send you a new one. They were very quick to suggest switching it out which was nice, but still a hassle. I did wonder though, that they were so fast to say just send it back and we will send a new one, led me to believe they may just be use to this particular problem. I am waiting on the new one.

5 out of 5 stars DTT901 + Antennas Direct DB2 Antenna = Perfect Picture   January 4, 2009

We have a 54" Panasonic rear projection television from 2004 that requires a digital converter. I put up the DB2 antenna, but was waiting on the government coupon before I bought the converter. The antenna worked pretty well, but we only got four channels, at the bottom end of the range, but analog was far from perfect.
This model was rated pretty good on Consumer Reports, which was why we selected it.
Once we hooked up this model, the picture was perfect and we were able to see 28 channels. Its pretty much plug and play. The only downside, which I think is common for all the units is the remote. It seems to have a problem turning on the unit and feels chintzy. I am looking into a universal remote to replace it and the others.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent 8-VSB Reciever Box   January 4, 2009

I've had the chance to use several different 8-VSB/ATSC "Converter Boxes" such as this one and this out performed them all for features and user friendliness as well as having good signal sensitivity. I didn't like the limited Electronic Program Guide as much as the extended one found on another box, but I loved the audio, subtitle, closed caption, and per-channel zoom feature on the remote, as well as the ability to hear an audible signal alarm tone as I adjust the antenna. This type of audible signal meter is CRUCIAL to adjusting an antenna that is above the TV or in a location where the TV can not be viewed. My favorite feature of this box has to be that I can turn it on and change the channel from the front of the box (without remote control). This feature seems like a standard no-brainer but it is far less common than you might think on other boxes. Definately get the DTT901 if you want a good reciever for 8-VSB on an NTSC TV set. The only 8-VSB reciever I like more than this is the HD-Homerun (for use with a PC).
